Moe & Johnny’s Review | Indianapolis, IN

Moe & Johnny’s is a restaurant near Butler University in Indianapolis that actually consists of a bar, dining room, and coffee shop all in one location (formerly separate).  I ate in the dining room room which actually used to be a gas station, and you can even tell the windows used to be garage doors.  Pictures of the bar as well as the painted wall leading from the dining room to the bar can be found below.  Moe & Johnny’s has a very wide selection of food including salads, soups, sandwiches, burgers, pasta, chicken, and steak, so I wasn’t expecting much from their pizza.  However, I was pleasantly surprised as it was much better than typical bar pizza.  In order to provide you with even better tips, I actually tried ham and bacon on half and sausage and pepperoni on the other half.  After much deliberation, I feel confident in stating that ham and bacom is the better topping combination to get on a pizza at Moe & Johnny’s.  Their pizzas are fired in a brick oven, but the crust is not as thin as you would expect from that type of cooking as it is more of a traditional-style crust.  It was plenty soft and very good, unless you prefer thin and cripsy crusts.  If you every find yourself around Butler University’s campus in Indianapolis, I recommend getting a pizza at either Moe & Johnny’s or Napolese.

What I Ate: Half Ham and Bacon, Half Sausage and Pepperoni
