Slimms Pizza and Salads is a recent addition to the fast custom pizza craze that seems to be sweeping the nation. Their promise is to cook, cut, and serve your pizza in four minutes. While this is similar to Blaze Pizza and Pie Five, what makes Slimms unique is that they are family-owned. In fact, Slimms is an acronym representing the first letter of each family member’s name. This same family previously ran a pizzeria in Rensselaer, Indiana , and Slimms – in Fishers – now represents their latest entry into the pizza business.
There is some inside seating at Slimms but not a lot. Therefore, I think they are best suited for the grab and go lunch crowd associated with many of the nearby businesses on 96th Street. However, if you are to stay, as I did, then my experience shows that you will receive friendly service from at least one of the members of the Marzke family.
As is obvious by the name, Slimms serves salads in addition to pizza. Furthermore, they make breadsticks with cheese or marina dipping sauce, and I tried a half order just to sample them. The breadsticks had a good amount of buttery blend and sprinkled cheese seasoning that made me a fan.
Slimms prides themselves on their dough made fresh daily and their fresh toppings, and I would say that is what stood out the most on my pizza. The crust was good and soft, and my toppings tasted fresh and delicious. While Slimms may offer slightly less topping options than some of their competitors, all of their ingredients seemed to be first-rate. For example, Slimms only has one cheese option, but it was very good and seemed to brown perfectly in just four minutes. Therefore, as long as you don’t need to get too crazy, Slimms Pizza and Salads presents an opportunity to quickly grab a good, fresh pizza.
I would have no problem visiting Slimms Pizza and Salads again, and I wish them the best of luck in the very competitive pizza business.
