Toppers Pizza just opened a new location in Carmel, Indiana off of Carmel Drive in between Pennsylvania and Meridian Streets. They had some fun giveaways on their opening day, including free food for a year to the first fifty people in line, and some of their pizzas, such as the Mac ’N Cheese, further show their creativity. I started with their Original Topperstix (pictured below), which are basically cheesy breadsticks. They were pretty good, and I really liked their garlic butter dipping sauce as it was thick and buttery. I then chose their Ultimate Pepperoni Topper pizza which included traditional and diced pepperoni. Both of the pepperoni flavors are what stood out about this pizza and were what I enjoyed the most about it. There didn’t seem to be anything too special about the crust, but that can be easily overcome with garlic butter or other dipping sauce that you can get with their Topperstix. Toppers also offers grinders, wings, and quesadillas beyond their pizza and Topperstix selection. I must warn that there isn’t too much seating inside as this restaurant seems more geared to delivery or carry-out. Hopefully Toppers sticks around as they make enjoyable pizza, but they do have some competition with the delicious Bellacino’s being right across the street.
