Village Tavern is a popular spot in Winston-Salem, and they have other locations across a few states and even the Philippines as well. Part of the popularity must come from the incredibly wide range of options on their menu. I believe they are most known for their burgers and steaks, but there is probably something wrong with you if you can’t find anything you like on their menu. It also includes appetizers, soups, salads, salads, flatbreads, street tacos, sandwiches, and various other entrées.
Naturally, the flatbreads initially intrigued me. My intrigue only grew as I read that Village Tavern makes their dough fresh daily using the finest Pivetti flour imported from Italy. They offer Margherita, Tavern, Barbeque Chicken, Veggie, Mushroom and Goat Cheese, Spinach, and Classic Pepperoni flatbreads. Since I was already excited about the quality of their dough, I figured I should try the Margherita flatbread as it also included high quality San Marzano tomatoes.
I enjoyed that the crust of my Margherita flatbread was more doughy than typical flatbreads, and I also liked its slight saltiness. It had a good amount of charring, but I didn’t find it to be overwhelming. The San Marzano tomatoes were tasty as expected. Plus, the cheese was rich and thick in certain spots on the flatbread. Overall, I’m very confident that pizza fans and non-pizza fans alike can find something they would enjoy at Village Tavern.
