Mio’s Pizza is likely your best – and possibly only – option for stuffed Chicago-style pizza around Cincinnati with Chi-natti’s being closed. Despite the lack of competition, Mio’s stuffed pizza offering is pretty good, and their original crust pizzas aren’t too shabby either. I tried extra cheese on their original crust, and I enjoyed the generous amount golden brown cheese.
I ordered my stuffed pizza with sausage on one half and pepperoni on the other. The Italian sausage had great spice to it and was my favorite part of the pizza. The thick sauce with chunks of tomato was my second favorite part. The sauce was more easily tasted on the half with pepperoni, because the pepperoni didn’t hit my taste buds quite as hard as the sausage. The crust was okay, but I wouldn’t say there was anything too special about it. It doesn’t match the taste of the crust of stuffed pizzas in Chicago, but perhaps that is because of the different water. My stuffed pizza obviously had the same good cheese as my original crust, but the great flavors of the sausage and sauce made it less important on this pizza.
I took advantage of Mio’s delivery, but they have several dine-in locations around Cincinnati in Ohio and Kentucky. While their stuffed pizza isn’t quite on par with what you can get in Chicago, if you are from the Cincinnati-area and have a craving for it in between trips to Skyline Chili, then Mio’s Pizza is the place for you.
