Situated just beside the nice campus of Elon College, is a good pizza place called Pandora’s Pies. I imagine their pizza is quite popular with the students. They also serve ice cream that probably helps them to stay busy during the summer months when there are less students. I don’t know what more you could want beyond pizza and ice cream, but Pandora’s Pies’ menu includes appetizers, salads, and sandwiches as well. In addition, they have a good local beer list, so I’m sure you can find one to pair just right with their pizza.
Even though I was in North Carolina, I tried Pandora’s “NY State of Mind” pizza based on a strong recommendation from my local pizza expert, Brent. The big slices with just the right amount of grease matched New York-style pizza well, and so did the thin crust with doughier edges. The only way this pizza couldn’t quite hold true to a New York one was that its crust was a little too soggy in the middle, and this would cause it to droop when folded. Overall, the “NY State of Mind” was excellent though, and my favorite part was their homemade sausage.
I would have no problem dining at Pandora’s Pies again. Their meatball pizzas also come highly recommended. I’m interested in trying those and some of their other creations – such as the “Daddy Fat Sacks Pepperoni” – in the future.
