Pizza Ranch | Willmar, MN

The Pizza Ranch has grown to become a popular chain in the great plains and western midwest states since first opening in Hull, Iowa in 1981. They currently have locations in Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. I believe most of their restaurants offer lunch (11am-1:30pm) and dinner (5-8pm) “mile-long” buffets, and that is what I tried at their location in Willmar, MN. While the mile-long statement is obviously an exaggeration, this was one of the better buffets I have sampled both in terms of variety and quality. Not only do they ask you if you prefer any certain type of pizza when you enter, but the buffet also features salad, sides such mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese, fried chicken, and dessert pizza. While I didn’t have room for chicken or dessert pizza, and you should know how I feel about salad on pizza buffets by now (if you don’t, please read up on my guide to buffets), I did enjoy the macaroni and cheese and garlic cheese bread (pictured below). The reason I didn’t have room for many sides was due to all of the delicious pizzas available as I sampled the pepperoni, sausage, Canadian bacon, and Bronco (beef, Italian sausage, pepperoni, Canadian bacon, bacon pieces). The sauce and all of the meat had good flavor, and the cheese was good. All the pizzas I ate were on what I would call a thin traditional-style crust, and it was okay but not good enough to eat much of if you are trying to be efficient with stomach space while at the buffet. When all was said and done, I was very happy with my experience at the Pizza Ranch’s buffet and would recommend it. It is also worth noting that most of their locations offer other eat-in options, carryout, and delivery as well.

We we nt to the pizza ranch in Montevideo and the server running the register was clueless and was on her cell phone making personnel calls. There was no buffet. No sign at counter that said order here so sat at booth as server walked by for ten minutes. Iowa pizza ranches way better

Was eating at the pizza ranch in Altoona. Found a strand of black hair in my piece of chicken.
I did report it, was told he would talk to somebody about it. Do the cooks wear hair nets?
