The Piedmont Ale House earned my patronage for three reasons:
- They serve pizza (obviously).
- They have 38 beers on tap.
- They have televisions.
Unfortunately, the pizza and televisions ended up being somewhat disappointing, leaving the 38 beers on tap to be the most exciting part. In all fairness, the televisions were only upsetting because I watched my Indianapolis Colts fall to 0-2 on them, and they did actually have plenty of TVs for me watch the poor display of football on. I don’t believe that disappointment affected my opinion of the pizza though, and I was not incredibly impressed with it. Piedmont Ale House’s pizzas are offered in a fairly small 9-inch personal size, and they taste like a mediocre bar pizza. Their thin crust is pretty dry, and the sauce tastes similar to Ragu.
In addition to the beer list, I did like the mozzarella sticks at Piedmont Ale House. However, it seems this establishment is the type of bar for locals to enjoy some beverages, and the service wasn’t great for my party of newbies. I’d still recommend it for the beer selection as I enjoyed a couple from local North Carolina-based breweries. However, it would probably be better to eat elsewhere and hit The Piedmont Ale House up as a nightcap.
