Tina’s Pizza and Pasta was just what I hoped it would be; a quaint New York-style pizza restaurant with a friendly owner and delicious pizza. Tina’s has only been open for about a year, but the owner – a Bronx native – seems to really know his pizza. He recommended that I try the Original Grandma Nonna’s Pizza, and I was extremely happy that I listened to him. The interesting thing about this pizza is that almost every bite could taste different. The crust, which appears to be Sicilian but is actually thinner, ranges from very soft in the center to crunchy like a crouton on the outside edges. Next, the tasty sauce is applied in stripes so that some bites have a lot of it and some have none. Finally, the original Grandma Nonna’s has fresh garlic and basil that are both very strong in flavor and are strewn about the pizza in a fashion that changes their quantity on every bite (the garlic was particularly good and powerful enough so that I did not fear attacks from vampires for the rest of the evening). If you are crazy enough to not want to try this pizza, then there are many other pizzas and additional items on the menu. Plus, I liked the bottles of Stewart’s Root Beer that are available along with other bottled soda and water. With enough room for limited dine in as well as carry out and delivery options, there is no excuse for not trying Tina’s Pizza and Pasta if you are in the Flemington, New Jersey area.
