I Don’t Like Pizza!

That might seem like an odd title for a post on a website dedicated to pizza.  Well, luckily I would never actually say those four words together, and I would argue that nobody ever should.  Pizza is the world’s most popular food because of its versatility, and therefore, everyone should be able to find a pizza that they love.

Let’s start with America’s favorite pizza, the pepperoni pizza.  This classic pizza will always taste at least a little different depending on who makes it.  Does a pepperoni pizza from Pizza Hut taste the same as one from Papa John’s?  No!  And that isn’t even taking into account different crust options that would available on those pizzas.  In fact, a friend of mine used to claim that he didn’t like pizza, yet he was always happy to go get a pepperoni pizza from Donatos.  He has since realized that he doesn’t like most pizza and maybe even doesn’t like a pepperoni pizza from anywhere else, but he has certainly found one pizza that he enjoys.

Have you ever ordered a pizza without cheese?  Me neither, but my very health conscious father-in-law does.  He loves pizza this way and has even had others try and enjoy it (I can never bring myself to give into his offers as I am of the firm belief that you can never have too much cheese).  Have you ever had pizza without the sauce?  This would basically be just like cheese bread with toppings…which sounds amazing!  I know a girl who unfortunately developed a tomato allergy, yet she found a way to continue to enjoy pizza by ordering it in this fashion.  Don’t like crust?  There are some restaurants that offer your pizza without the dough.  They basically pile the sauce, cheese, and toppings on a plate for you.  If you take these options into account, combined with restaurants offering most any toppings imaginable, I think I would find it very hard to believe someone who claims they don’t like pizza.

A co-worker of mine once said that “everybody likes pizza.  If someone says they don’t, they are just looking for attention.”  This quote reminded me of when someone would say they don’t watch television or drink soda pop as if them avoiding something awesome somehow makes them intriguing.  In the future, if someone tells you they don’t like pizza, I would say you have two options.  You could point out their extremely flawed logic, thus putting them down and making yourself feel much smarter in the process, or you could just walk away and never talk to them again as they clearly are a liar and can’t be trusted.  Okay, maybe there are a few other, and perhaps nicer, options, but my point is that I’m pretty sure there is a pizza out there for everyone!

The people who say they don’t like pizza are probably the same people who say they don’t “watch T.V.” or don’t “buy name brand clothes”. They are skinny jean wearing, beard growing, non-pop music listening hipsters. They sit around and complain about how everything sucks. You know what? They are the ones who suck and pizza rules!

Hey, you know what? I think that this article is pointless and stupid.
I don’t like pizza and it’s not because I’m seeking attention. Its because I genuinely do not like it.
How can you say that theres so many variations that people are bound to find one that they like?
You can say the same thing about anything else and yet there are still people who dislike it.
I’m sure that it is generally accepted around the world that most people like pizza, but can you seriously expect everyone to have the same tastebuds as you?
I finish this response by asking you:
If your opinion on a certain matter differred from everyone else around you, would that make you an attention seeker? Do you think that people would have a right to tell you that you’re wrong?

      G,

I must apologize as I believe the playful spirit in which I wrote this post did not transfer itself well when you read it.

Still, I have to respectfully disagree with your comment that you can find the same amount of variations in any other food that you can find in pizza. I tried to point out situations where someone or someplace has changed or removed one of the major components of pizza and still referred to it as pizza. I simply don’t think this is true for most other foods…sure you can change up toppings on a cheeseburger, but the majority of it is the same every time.

I used to like pizza, but I am so burnt out on it that the smell of it no matter who has made it makes me sick. No not because I want attention but because I just don’t. Variety don’t matter when u don’t like the basic ingredients.
