Otto Pizza | Portland, ME

Otto Pizza sticks to what they do best…pizza.  So, don’t go there hoping to get anything else except for a possible starter salad or dessert for after your pizza.  They do have beer and wine to accompany your pizza though.  Otto Pizza has a few locations in Portland, Maine, as well some in Massachusetts, and I liked the old charm of the interior at their 225 Congress Street restaurant in Portland.  They also offer carryout and delivery, and this location had a small patio out front if you prefer to dine outdoors.

Otto Pizza has a lot of interesting pizza creations to offer, but I tried some pretty simple ones to appease my wife: a pepperoni and a margherita.  The crust was my favorite part of both pizzas.  It was thin, light, and airy with no charring.  It also had some saltiness to it that was particularly noticeable on the margherita, and I enjoyed that.  Both pizzas were pretty light on cheese, but that worked with the overall thinness of them.  The pepperoni was somewhat spicy, and that blended nicely with the sweet sauce.  I am comfortable recommending Otto Pizza in Portland, Maine, but I would just encourage others to order more creative pizzas than I did.
